The holidays are here and there’s nothing quite like
spending time with your kids and seeing their faces light up with excitement as
you take a break from the mundanity of home, school, and work. There’s more to
wintertime than simply watching white snow from the inside of your homes. So
get out, put on your winter outdoor wear, and explore West London’s South Kensington,
one of the finest attractions and most affluent district.
Take museum trips to make the holidays educational both
for you and your kids by exploring one of the earth’s wonders, the Natural History Museum, which houses
millions of articles in four “zones.” There’s also the Victoria and Albert Museum, an institution that displays decorative
art pieces, jewelry, textiles, etc. To cap off your museum trips, don’t forget
to explore the Science Museum and try
out its interactive exhibits on space exploration, astronomy, technology, and
engineering.
If you want to veer away from the urban life, you and
your kids can walk along the serene Kensington
Garden to give you that semblance of communing with nature. There are flowers
thriving and blooming, as well as many contemporary art pieces that are worth
the trip. If you want to have a more dynamic day, try another royal parkland
called Hyde Park, and go cycling,
swimming, playing tennis, jogging, and boating. You may as well stay there for
a little bit to watch London’s Christmas spectacle, the Winter Wonderland. Your
kids will surely enjoy a good old Santa meet-and-greet, and some theme park and
circus attractions.
Book a stay at any of the aparthotels in
Kensington and join the many different festivities by visiting the
Christmas markets set up for the entire holiday season. You can also visit the
well-known South Bank Centre Christmas and enjoy the food and drinks with your
kids. Check out the handmade gifts over at Christmas Market at Tate Modern. You
can also check out other marketplaces like Shoreditch Christmas Triangle and
Bust Christmas Craftacular.
What’s a good winter break without putting on your
skates to go around for a spin in the popular Broadgate Ice Rink and Canary
Wharf Ice Rink? These two ice rinks remain open until the end of February.
Let’s not miss out on the studio that created
phenomenal film that took the world by storm—Harry Potter! Both kids and adults
alike will have a magical time exploring The Warner Bros. Studio London. Live
the wizarding adventure that you deserve by enjoying some sightseeing on the
locations that appeared on the movie. Get mesmerized by the iconic sets, props,
and special effects. Have a taste of their butterbee, or let a wand find its
way into your hands. Don’t forget to get some souvenir. Last but not the least,
don’t miss the opportunity to take a side trip to the famous Platform 9 3/4.
There are so many places and events you and your kids
can discover in Kensington during the wintertime. This district’s vacation
rental will not fail in providing you the London experience, like that of the Presidential
Apartment Kensington, in which their rental rooms has that warm, homey
feeling, making it seem like more of a private room than a hotel room.
